Focusing on stress related disease
Cortisol – the stress hormone

At the heart of stress-related disease lies cortisol. This is a hormone secreted by the adrenal glands – endocrine organs located just above each kidney. Cortisol is a key component in the normal physiological response to stress and has a complex physiological role in the regulation of energy metabolism, maintenance of body organs, and suppression of inflammation.
